I went to this match with my son 'The Flash',but this was our 2nd choice game. The 1st choice being the game between Cockfosters and Holmer Green proved to be impossible to get to before kick-off as the traffic around the A10/M25 area was almost at a standstill,so,a quick trip cross country to 'Parkfield' -the home of Potters Bar Town FC-were we arrived at 2.59pm.No sooner as we had walked through the turnstiles,Potters Bar Town FC had scored. The weather all day had been glorious and t-shirts were the order of the day.Untill we got to the match and the heavens opened up and most of the match was played in a mixture of heavy downpours and light showers. This was not a bad thing as there are 3 covered terraces/stands in the ground and although Dartford FC had brought with them some very loud and tuneful supporters with them there was enough cover to go round. The match was played with plenty of pace and try as they might Dartford FC could not break through the 11 man Potters Bar defence,so the score remained at 1-0 at half time. The second half was played much the same as the first with the Potters Bar 'keeper putting on a display -where he caught everything shot or headed towards his goal-that puts Paul Robinson to shame. With 7 minutes to go Potters Bar went 2-0 up and looked like they would hang on for a much needed win to keep them the right side of the bottom 4.However Dartford scored their first within a minute of the restart and kept on the pressure until it was rewarded in the last minute with an equaliser. When the final whistle went it was relief for the top team in the division and abad luck for the home team who played much better than their lowly league postion would otherwise suggest. The trip home took less than 25mins and we were back home early enough to watch the first episode of Dr Who. So an excellent day all round.
